As an heiress to the ñuu savi tradition (“people of the clouds” in the Mixtec language), from a young age, Olga was raised by her grandmothers’ cooking, teachings that engendered love and passion for the sacred work of cooking and founder of the restaurant Tierra del Sol (2002).

Likewise, she has transmitted her knowledge of culinary art through talks and demonstrations at the “International Tourism Management Congress” of the Universidad Anáhuac-Oaxaca (2018) and at the National Museum of the American Indian in New York, within the framework of the activities of the “Festival Celebrate Mexico Now” (2018), with the presentation titled “Oaxaca: a culinary mixtec experience”.

Olga has also given multiple presentations in educational training institutions in gastronomy, as a jury in regional gastronomic competitions and fairs, in addition to demonstrations together with traditional cooks and chefs of international prestige.

Her restaurant “Tierra del sol” has recently been recognized (2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024) for being among “the greatest restaurants in Mexico” awarded by Culinaria Mexicana and Larousse Cocina, also receiving the sustainability award (2023, 2024) in 2019, Olga received the distinction of “outstanding woman” awarded by the H. City Council of the city of Oaxaca de Juárez. Recognition of the Andrés Henestrosa golden scroll of merit (2020) for being one of the main promoters of food from the Mixtec region.

She is also the creator of “gastronomic cultural conversations” on corn, chili, beans, cocoa and quelites.

Author of the book “One Day, One Life” for 1450 editions (2022) and “The World of Atoles” by Larousse Cocina (2023).
